SUPERVISOR MONICA MONTGOMERY STEPPE APPOINTED VICE CHAIR OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

SAN DIEGO (July 22, 2025) - Today, the Board of Supervisors appointed Supervisor Monica Montgomery Steppe as Vice Chair. In this new role, Vice Chair Montgomery Steppe will continue her commitment to collaborating with fellow board members, community leaders, and constituents to address the region's most pressing challenges.  

"I am deeply honored by this appointment and excited for the opportunity to serve in this capacity," said Vice Chair Montgomery Steppe. "As Vice Chair, my dedication to our community remains unwavering. I look forward to working closely with my colleagues to build on the progress we've made and to confront the challenges that lie ahead."  

Vice Chair Montgomery Steppe was elected to represent District 4 on the Board of Supervisors in December 2023. She has been a strong advocate for public safety reform, expanding behavioral health services, and developing sustainable solutions to homelessness. As Vice Chair, Montgomery Steppe will play a critical role in supporting the Board's leadership, fostering collaboration, and advancing the Board's policy priorities.

During today’s vote, the Board also appointed Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer as Chair and Supervisor Paloma Aguirre as Vice Chair Pro Tem.
