A San Diego native, Jahzi Jackson-McCree was introduced to community service by her great grandmother while growing up in District 4. Since 2004, she has dedicated her career to public service and strengthening communities, driven by a commitment to creating opportunities for the people who helped shape her.

Her experience across government and the nonprofit sector has focused on community development, policy advancement, economic mobility, youth opportunity, justice reform, and cross-sector partnerships that expand opportunity and improve outcomes for historically underserved communities.

Jahzi earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Grambling State University. After graduation, she returned home to San Diego and became active in community arts and cultural groups, local mental health and disability awareness initiatives, and youth mentorship and advocacy.

Jahzi is passionate about advancing equitable, community-centered policy and believes lasting change is achieved through collaboration, innovation, and service.

Jahzi manages the policy areas related to the County of San Diego’s Public Safety Group and supports District 4’s community engagement efforts.
