Senior Community Representative
Karen Montufar-Federico was born and raised in Southeast San Diego and resides in Encanto. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Whittier College. Karen is passionate about getting community members civically engaged. She previously spent five years with then San Diego City Councilmember Monica Montgomery Steppe, providing constituent services, creating communication tools, and researching policies related to transportation and economic development.
Karen comes with 12 years of experience in building electoral power and increasing voter turn-out in communities of color across the country, primarily around school board elections.
Karen manages constituent services in the areas of Casa de Oro, Mt. Helix, Encanto, Chollas View, Ridgeview/Webster, City Heights, Azalea Park, Normal Heights, Rolando Park, Rolando Village, Redwood Village, Kensington-Talmadge, and College Area.
